Presents Music Together®

Welcome to Musical Beginnings. Thank you for your interest in our classes!
Musical Beginnings offers Music Together an internationally recognized, research-based early childhood music program for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergarteners, and the adults who love them.  Musical Beginnings has been a special flower in Broward and Dade counties for twelve years serving thousands of families in our studios and in private and public schools. We hope you  join us!

The Fall Session starts September 23 and ends December 6 (there are no classes the week of Thanksgiving, 11/24 - 11/29).

Preregistration for our Winter Session starts November 17 for families currently enrolled in the Fall Session.  Open Registration begins December 8. The Winter Session begins the week of January 5 and ends March 4, 2009.

At any time you can schedule a free sample class.  See our "Classes" section for a list of class times.  This is an excellent opportunity to experience our classes, meet the teacher, and see our  wonderful studios.  Feel free to invite your friends or Play Group!

"Musical Beginnings has been wonderful for us.  As a mom, I have met great friends.  And my son has blossomed.  He’s transformed from a timid and shy little boy into a budding musician who loves to explore the instruments and even enjoys singing and dancing in class.” - Jen Gregory

“My children Sam and Sara are so musical and I fully credit this to their great experiences in the Music Together program with Miss Ann.  3-year old Sam sings all day and night – just today he created a counting song where he put his numbers 1-20 to a tune that he made up. Thanks to his early music education, he’s found his own way to make learning fun. 20-month old Sara’s face lights up, she squeals with joy and starts dancing whenever she hears songs from the class – seeing her so happy means the world to me.”  -Lynda Davey

"Christopher came home from his very 1st day of school - Pre-K3 - and when I asked him what he liked the best, he said it was his music class becasue it was like the time we spent together at Miss Ann's."   -Amy Orta

Diego and Dad

Diego (3) has been going to music together for a year now and has made huge strides musically and socially, it's the one activity that we never miss! He fell in love with the drums first, and now it's his ukulele, which he takes everywhere with him. He composes his own songs and also does all sorts of compilations of songs he's learned at Music Together. My husband Jose has noticed that he sings in tune always.  Music Together and Miss Ann have opened the door to a lifetime of musical appreciation and enjoyment for our son."   AW

Music Together is a music and movement approach that develops every child's opportunity for basic music competence by encouraging music experience rather than the learning of information about music.  Music Together classes are based on the idea that making music with children, in the family, and in a community of families...

- Enriches the lives of both children and parents

- Promotes musical growth in children, optimizing musical aptitude and future success in music

- Should be FUN!

Julian and Mallory During Rhythm Play

"My son Julian just loves his music classes, and I have noticed that in his social skills, he is more participatory with adults as well as with other children.  We enjoy our Music Together mornings. Thank you!" EW

The program is directed by Ann Benson -  accredited Musikgarten instructor for 10 years, a Music Together instructor for one year, a licensed AMI Montessori teacher and early childhood foreign language specialist.

Music ability is a natural life skill. All children can achieve basic competence in music provided their early music environment is sufficiently rich. Basic music competence will allow your child to be able to sing and move in a rhythmically accurate way, the notes or pitches in the melody will also be accurate and in tune.

Music Together is designed to help you nurture your child's music development, regardless of your own music background or ability.  In Music Together, we try not to impose too much structure on your child's music experience. Our informal instruction does not place expectations for achievement upon the child.

Ring, ring, ring..."Mom are you there?"

Activity with Resonator Bars, Heather and son Bryce

Some children are spontaneous singers and movers, others are careful and astute observers. Even when your child gives no response or seems uninterested in listening or participating, important unconscious learning is taking place.

Restfull Content  -  Juliana on the Drum

Our program promotes anxiety-free learning. Our goal is simply to aid the natural learning process.  It is important that you (and your child's other caregivers):
-Participate in class.
-Attend the parent education program.
-Play the recording often.
-Have FUN!

"Giddy-up!" Ileana and son Jack

Most children eagerly anticipate the instrument-play period at the end of each class. Even the most reticent children lose their self-consciousness.  Instrument play allows your child to process the new information assimilated during class...

...to practice the old information...

...and to "test hypotheses" about the making of music by interacting directly with an instrument, and with you!

Philip loves the drum

"Music Together is one of the most rewarding programs we've done so far.  It changed our life so much that my husband and myself sing along everywhere. During grocery shopping, going to the doctor and just while we're having dinner together. Our son(Philip) is wiggling and dancing with a bright smile evey time we listen to the music!" ES

AUTOHARP TIME! Often at the beginning or ending of class,  we sing to the rich strains of the autoharp.  For many children, this is the highlight of the class!   And sometimes they get a turn as well!

Miss Ann with Mallory and Nanny Caroline at the Autoharp

Our Music Together classes build on your child's natural enthusiasm for music and movement. We'll help you provide your child with the basic musical skills needed to enjoy school and social musical activities, and to study an instrument should he or she choose to do so.

We hope you can join us for one of our fun-filled sessions.
You will love every minute!!!
